PEA
PEA – Pisum sativum
Leguminosae
Field peas are a pulse. The seeds are very rich in protein (about 26%) and therefore are an ideal food.
The whole plant is easily harvested with combines; the harvest is then made into silage.
Growing this legume stimulates organism life in the soil. Because of this, field peas are considered a very advantageous preceding crop for cereals and potatoes, but not for legumes: in fact, rotating this legume with others increases the amount of pests and diseases.
