RED FESCUE

Turf Seeds – Microtherms

This plant has a fine leaf structure; it adapts well to fresh and humid climates as well as shaded areas. It can be tufted (Creeping Red Fescue) or rhizomatous (Chewing’s Fescue). It has fine bright green leaves and is low to medium size.

It prefers loose soil and it can also tolerate poor soil. It endures cold and drought, resists trampling and shade very well. It forms a very dense turf. It is particularly suitable for sports grounds, frequently-used ornamental lawns, fairways and golf tees.

Festuca Rubra: SERGEI

What characterises this variety the most is its robustness and adaptability. It forms strong rhizomes that fill gaps in the grass. It settles very rapidly and tolerates high temperatures better than other red fescues. It may be used individually or combined with other fescues to ensure good turf recovery. It resists salinity very well.

It has a dark green colour. It is very resistant to major fungal diseases that occur in turf. Its fine leaf also makes it ideal for lawns which require an excellent appearance.

Festuca Rubra Fallax:

It is a rustic plant, however it is not a creeper. It grows at a fast rate and has very thin leaves. It prefers soft soil with good drainage and rich in organic matter. It tolerates few sudden changes in temperature beyond certain limits. It forms a dense turf that can endure cuts under 3cm.

It is especially suitable for fine and frequently-used ornamental turfs and can also be mixed with other species for sports grounds, as well as industrial or rustic fields.

Quantity of seeds: 20-25gr/m2.

Festuca Rubra Tricophilla:

This differs from Creeping Red Fescue in that it has shorter, denser rhizomes, for better settlement and growth. It resists drought and excessive salinity. It is therefore suitable for embankments, slopes and also shaded areas. It forms trampling-resistant lawns and also produces good aesthetic results. It is therefore suitable for medium-fine ornamental lawns, playing areas and mixed with rustic meadows.
