SHEEP’S FESCUE
Turfs Seeds – Microtherms
Festuca ovina:
This perennial microtherm is suited for cool and damp climates. It also endures poor soil very well. It is characterised by its exceptionally fine leaves and tends to grow upright and in tufts.
It is generally similar in appearance to Red Fescue but it has green-blue leaves. It grows in very tight, harsh and bristly tufts. It forms green turf, very dense at the base and resistant to wear in difficult places such as embankments and slopes.
It should not be cut below 5-7cm. It grows well on poor, arid soil. Its root system is thin, tight and withholds very loose, sandy ground, such as certain golf course areas.
